FRC | Coaxial Swerve Drivetrain
Swerve drives allow for the wheel to rotate upon two axes, significantly increasing a robot’s mobility—see video of NASA vehicle with a swerve drive. At the time of release using a swerve drivetrain would take up a lot of space and was heavy. This project aimed to mitigate these limitations. Released in 2019, this was the lightest and smallest swerve design of its time, influencing OEM designs on the market today.
